FandomFriday on the 25th of July

Arriving to Finncon early? Fancy meeting some of the local fen and seeing some of the sights of Tampere at the same time? If "yes," then FandonFriday is for you! Aimed especially at our international con-goers (but open to all), FandomFriday is a great way to get to know the city and the locals.

Here is the preliminary schedule for the Fandom Friday.

The tour starts at noon from the main library of Tampere, Metso, from outside the main door. Karo Leikomaa will be there with a sign saying "Finncon-Animecon".

Those who are interested will be taken to the Moomin Valley museum, which has a lot of original art by the Moomin creator, Finnish author and artist Tove Jansson. The entrance fee is 4 euros for adults, for students (with student cards) and children under 16 years the entrance fee is 1 euro.

More information about the museum can be found from here and the location can be found from here

For those who are not interested in the museum, the tour starts at 1.30 pm from the library cafeteria, Library Metso, 2nd floor. The stairs to the second floor are right opposite the main door and are really hard to miss.

The tour continues with a walk around the city centre with some sight seeing. The sights will include some general sight seeing stuff from Tampere and it's history with some fandom related stuff as well.

The tour will end at 4 pm the latest. The ending point will be the Central Square, Keskustori or at a very good restaurant (with great beers and ciders) right next to Keskustori, depending on how hungry people are at that point.

If there are people who are not sure about finding their way to the main library Metso, Karo will be in the Central Square, Keskustori, next to McDonalds (which is a good landmark) at half past eleven for a couple of minutes before continuing to the library. There will be maps of Tampere available during the tour.
