What is Finncon?

Finncon is a science fiction and fantasy convention held since 1986, together with Animecon after 1999 - and now for the first time in Tampere. During the last two years the two combined conventions have gathered over 5 000 visitors from Finland and abroad each year. The convention location is downtown, near the train station and a short way from several hotels, shops and markets.

Finncon will have four guests of honour from different fields of science fiction and fantasy: a writer, an illustrator, a critic and a cartoonist. Animecon will also have a guest of honour from the field of comics.

Our main programme lines this year will be children's & young adults' literature, games, and retro science fiction, but the final programming will include other topics as well. In addition to the Finnish programme, there will also be programming items in English and Swedish.

In short, we will have everything from fantastic anime to traditional science fiction.

As usual, Finncon has no membership fee!
